Los Angeles Galaxy emerged winners in the thrilling game against Orlando City in the Major League Soccer. The seven game thriller saw former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic register his first hat trick in the league.
LA Galaxy are now in the third spot in the Western Conference standings and hope to move over Los Angeles Football Club LAFC, who are in the second spot with a point lead. Both sides met on Thursday and it ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Orland got the goals but Galaxy responded each time before the 36-year old ensured Galaxy took home the spoils. He got his goals within 24 minutes in the second half, making the game an instant MLS classic. He also provided the assists for Giovani dos Santos to score the first for Galaxy. CristianHiguita opened scoring for the visitors but Don Santos restored parity. Michael Ciani and Dom Dwyer also got on the scoresheet but Ibra’s goals cancelled their efforts and ensured Galaxy went home with maximum points.
Ibrahimovic announced after the game that he would miss the MLS All Star Game against Juventus on Wednesday after being voted in. The league policy means he is set to miss the Galaxy’s next league clash against Colorado Rapids. The player said his main focus would be to help Galaxy get goals in the playoffs.
